What you can do is, use oatmeal powder. Mix it in your bath water and the rash will go away. You can also apply the powder separately on the rash and let it stay. The oatmeal powder will give passage to the blockage and gradually, the prickly heat rash will go away. Thus, bathing with oatmeal powder is one of the ways of doing away with the oatmeal rash.

Talc Powder

Leave behind oatmeal powder, use a regular talc powder or a powder meant for prickly heat specifically. Apply it on the rash for a few days and it will cool down the irritation and heal your rash in time. There are quite a few brands of prickly heat powders available in the market. Flour Paste

Yes, flour paste works on rashes. All you have to do is mix flour with water and make a thin paste out of it. Apply it on your rash and let it dry completely. Although, you can use any kind of flour to wash off the rash; flour made out of corn and starch works the best. Hence, try using that flour to wash off your rash. However, other flours are fine too.

Coriander Paste

Mix coriander powder along with sandalwood powder and add rose water in equal portion in it. Make a very thick paste of this mixture and apply it on your rash. Let the paste dry. Once the paste has dried up, wash it off with cold water. The rash should either die down or disappear. If not, repeat the process at regular intervals a few times a day and you are bound to see results. However, you will have to prepare a large quantity of paste in advance and store for future use if you are to apply it several times in a row.

Cool it Off

There are numerous ways of cooling off your hurt. You can use an ice pack, a cloth dipped on cold water and numerous other things. The best solution would be to mix soda and cold water and dip a cloth on it and apply it on your rash. Your rash will disappear in absolutely no time. You can also use a bottle full of cold water, like chilled and frozen water on the rash. It will redden for a while but will soon disappear. You only need to tolerate the redness for a while.


Sit underneath a fan, AC or Cooler and you will be able to cool down your sweat and subsequently your rash will disappear too. The rash is most likely to have occurred because of excessive sweat and hence, blockage of sweat glands. If you cool away the sweat, sweat glands will open up and hence, the rash will no longer be there. However, this is a slow procedure and may take quite a few hours. However, this home remedy for prickly heat rash will work if you are patient enough.

Let Time do the Healing

Usually, the blockage opens up and the rash disappears on its own in some time without you having to do anything at all. Hence, you don’t have to worry about the rash at all and not think of or indulge in any kind of remedy. It will disappear on its own in no time. However, if it stays longer than a day or 2 then you need to do something about it and soon. Otherwise, you can just let it heal.
